The trend for skirts and dresses this Spring is wide at the bottom and floor length hems. What we mean is that the skirts and dresses are form fitting at the top and wide, loose, and flowing at the bottom. These skirts and dresses are called "Maxi". The maxi dress is not new. It is a very popular bohemian look started in the 1970's and has never fully disappeared, luckily! Maxi skirts and dresses work for all shapes and sizes. They are perfect for the hot weather since the fabrics tend to be light and airy so they will not stick to you and make you feel uncomfortable. Maxi dresses tend to be on the more casual side. They are great for throwing on over a bathing suit after a day at the pool or beach as well as for a casual day of shopping or brunch with friends. However, not all Maxi dresses are casual. There are plenty of more formal dresses that can be worn at night when you are dressing up.
